Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Expertise
7–12+ years in Database Engineering / SQL Server Administration
Strong hands-on expertise in:
Microsoft SQL Server
(advanced configuration, tuning, internals)
AlwaysOn, clustering, replication, log shipping
Performance tuning and query optimization
Backup/restore, DR planning, failover testing
SQL Profiler, Extended Events, DMVs, Query Store
Experience supporting high-volume OLTP systems
Experience operating SQL Server in cloud environments (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable)
Strong understanding of concurrency, locking, transactions, isolation levels, and recovery models
Nice-to-Have
SSIS / SSRS / ETL experience
Experience with Looker, data warehousing, or analytical pipelines
Experience with container-based or microservices ecosystems
Fintech or regulated environment experience
Exposure to automation via scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
Soft Skills
Strong ownership and accountability
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
Clear communication and ability to work with cross-functional teams
Calm under pressure and experienced with production incident handling
