JOB OVERVIEW
The Senior Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for the maintenance and administration of a high availability environment as well as providing leadership in transitioning technical operations from traditional administration and deployment management to infrastructure as application leveraging automation/configuration management technologies
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 4‐6 years’ experience in a small to mid‐size software company in a Systems Administrator role.
Post‐secondary education in computer science or technology support services or equivalent capability from relevant work experience
Strong background in Linux/Unix administration and understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby) Strong technical problem solving skills and experience in IP networking and static routing FTP, SSH, SMTP, DNS, HTTP/S, DHCP, Syslog logging facility
Experience in a high‐availability and mission critical environment
Experience with automation/configuration management using Puppet, Chef or an equivalent.
Competency in administrating the OS for very large database systems (TB+)
Experience with Firewalls (IPTABLES/IPCHAINS)
Experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL and Mongo database.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administration of Redhat Linux systems
Explore and integrate new technologies, transitioning operations from traditional administration and deployment to infrastructure as application leveraging automation/configuration management technologies.
Daily maintenance/administration of multiple Unix systems
Prepare for new product related releases and assists with new initiatives and upgrades
Work with our product development team to implement and support client offering
Assists with Veritas Back‐ups and recovery
Configuration and maintenance of the monitoring system
Occasional work after hours or weekends at our co‐location facility
Rotational after‐hours support with 24/7 pager duty
