Responsibilities:
- Document Layout: Assist in the layout and formatting of documents, including text, images, tables, and charts, according to established design guidelines.
- Typesetting: Utilize desktop publishing software to typeset text, adjust font styles and sizes, and ensure consistency in formatting throughout documents.
- Proofreading: Review documents for typographical errors, formatting inconsistencies, and other quality issues, and make necessary corrections.
- File Conversion: Convert files between different formats, such as from Word to PDF or InDesign to ePub, ensuring compatibility and consistency in appearance.
- Image Editing: Perform basic image editing tasks, such as cropping, resizing, and color correction, to enhance the visual appeal of documents.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with team members, including writers, editors, and designers, to ensure that documents meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Stay Updated: Stay informed about advancements in desktop publishing software and technologies, and recommend improvements or updates to existing processes.
Requirements:
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent qualification is required. Additional certification or training in desktop publishing or graphic design is preferred.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in desktop publishing software such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, QuarkXPress, or Microsoft Publisher.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistency in formatting and design elements throughout documents.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and follow instructions.
- Time Management: Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work effectively under pressure.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to desktop publishing software and document formatting.
