Technical Expertise
7–12+ years in Database Engineering / SQL Server Administration
Strong hands-on expertise in:
- Microsoft SQL Server
- (advanced configuration, tuning, internals)
- AlwaysOn, clustering, replication, log shipping
- Performance tuning and query optimization
- Backup/restore, DR planning, failover testing
- SQL Profiler, Extended Events, DMVs, Query Store
- Experience supporting high-volume OLTP systems
- Experience operating SQL Server in cloud environments (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable)
- Strong understanding of concurrency, locking, transactions, isolation levels, and recovery models
- Nice-to-Have
- SSIS / SSRS / ETL experience
- Experience with Looker, data warehousing, or analytical pipelines
- Experience with container-based or microservices ecosystems
- Fintech or regulated environment experience
- Exposure to automation via scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
- Soft Skills
- Strong ownership and accountability
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Clear communication and ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Calm under pressure and experienced with production incident handling
