Responsibilities
- Maintain a high level of communication with staff, patients, and families
- Promote a positive work environment by modeling excellent customer service skills
- Assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of unit specific policies and procedures
- Serve as a resource to staff regarding patient care issues
- Facilitate problem solving among staff members
- Participate in performance improvement activities
- Assist with the orientation of new staff members
- Monitor compliance with hospital policies and procedures
- Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of nursing
- Supervise the daily operations of the unit in the absence of the manager
- Ensure that staffing levels are adequate to meet the needs of the patients
- Make recommendations for the improvement of unit services
